On behalf of all the Spanish LP Gas companies, I would like to thank the World LP Gas Association, the AEGPL and the AIGLP for giving us the opportunity to host the 23rd World LP Gas Forum.
The 23rd World LP Gas Forum combines this year for the very first time the 2010 AEGPL Congress and the 25th anniversary of the AIGLP Congress in one event as well as the 3rd Global Technology Conference. Every country in the world – the entire LP Gas world – will come together in Madrid, at the largest meeting in history of our sector. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Madrid for this important event. LP Gas has just celebrated its 50th anniversary in Spain, contributing significantly to the growth of the country. Today, we have over 11 million satisfied consumers, and great development prospects for piping LP Gas and autogas. It is an industry that will continue to grow in a country that looks outward and to the future. LP Gas is a clean, versatile, accessible and efficient energy. During the Madrid 2010 Forum under the theme of “LP Gas: Exceptional Energy” we will exchange knowledge and experience with other LP Gas stakeholders at every level and in all sectors of the business.
Climate change, security of supply and local pollution (mainly in cities) are the most important drivers of the energy industry and LP Gas can play an important role in meeting the world’s energy challenges. The LP Gas industry must advance in innovative appliances to capitalize the related good qualities of this fuel. We are optimistic and we think the consumption of LP Gas can grow, also in developed countries, by introducing new appliances and by reinforcing the traditional uses.
LP Gas will keep contributing to improve the quality of life of millions of homes replacing coal, wood and other polluting fuels frequently used in some regions of the world. The LP Gas industry must increase efforts in expanding the use of LP Gas to remote and non-developed regions considering also the social contribution. In Madrid we will discuss these subjects and many more.
The National Organising Committee will make the 23rd World LP Gas Forum a strategic event for our sector.
I look forward to seeing you in September,
Mr Ramón de Luis Serrano
President of the National Organising Committee
